Who are we?

My name is Witch Akoko, a Witch at the Mpondo Temple, a quiet and powerful place for healing, magic, and spiritual help. This temple is found in Kisoro District in Uganda, near the shores of Lake Bunyonyi — one of the most spiritual lakes in all of Africa.

My name is Witch Akoko. I have been doing magic and helping people for more than 40 years. I was trained by my grandfather, the powerful Witch Mpondo, who was also the temple’s witch before me. He taught me everything I know. He showed me how to use the power of nature, the wisdom of the spirits, and the strength of our ancestors.

Our temple is old, and the work we do is passed down through many generations. This is not new magic. It is ancient and true. We do not follow books or modern tricks. We follow the voices of the spirits — the real, living spirits that guide us every day.

How I Was Called

I did not choose this path. The path chose me. When I was a child, I could feel things that others could not. I could hear whispers in the wind, see signs in dreams, and feel strong energy in the trees, the stones, and the water.

My grandfather saw this gift in me. He began teaching me how to listen, how to understand, and how to work with the spiritual world. He taught me how to use herbs, how to speak to the ancestors, and how to help people through spells, prayers, and healing.

When he passed away, I became the new witch of the Mpondo Temple. I was ready, because the spirits had already called me.

The Spirits of Lake Bunyonyi

Our power comes from many places, but the strongest source is Lake Bunyonyi. This lake is not just water. It is alive. It is full of spirits, both old and new. These spirits speak to me. They guide me. They tell me when someone is coming who needs help.

Many of the people who find their way to the Mpondo Temple are not sent by advertisements or word of mouth. They are sent by the spirits of the lake. The lake calls them. It speaks to their hearts and leads them here. That is why so many who come say, “I don’t know how I found this place — I just felt drawn here.”

Lake Bunyonyi is also a place of supernatural power. It is not just peaceful and beautiful — it is magical. That is why so many birds live there. Over 200 different types of birds live around the lake, and more keep coming. These birds are not here by accident. They are drawn by the energy of the lake — just like the people are.

Some birds carry messages from the spirit world. Others are guardians. Others are simply drawn to the strong power that lives in the water and the air around Lake Bunyonyi. This is why we say the lake is alive. It listens. It watches. And it protects.

Our Work at the Temple

At the Mpondo Temple, everything we do is led by the spirits. We do not rush. We listen. Every person who comes here comes for a reason. Sometimes it is to heal. Sometimes it is to break a curse. Sometimes it is to find answers, or to speak to a lost loved one. No matter the reason, the spirits will show us what to do.

We use natural things — like herbs, leaves, water, fire, and earth — because nature holds great power. We speak prayers and chants that have been passed down for generations. We call on the ancestors, who are always near. And most of all, we work with the spirits of Lake Bunyonyi, who are our closest guides.

I never do anything without asking the spirits first. They tell me when to help, how to help, and who I am meant to help. If the spirits say no, I respect that. If they say yes, I give everything I have.

The Power of the Land

The land around the temple is also full of power. The hills, the rocks, the trees — all of them hold energy. Some places near the temple are strong in healing. Others are strong in dreams. Some places are quiet, where the ancestors come to speak.

This is why we do not build big houses or noisy places here. We keep the land simple and pure. We respect it. That is why the energy stays strong, and why people feel different when they come here.

Some people say they feel lighter, like a weight has been lifted. Others say they feel emotional, or full of peace. Some even cry, not from sadness, but from the feeling of being safe — truly safe, maybe for the first time in their life. That is the power of the land, and the spirits who live in it.

A Place of Truth

At Mpondo Temple, we do not lie. We do not pretend. We do not promise to do everything. What we do promise is that we will listen. We will ask the spirits. And we will do what is right, with honesty and care.

We do not take from people more than they can give. We do not use fear. We do not do harm unless we are protecting someone from evil. Our magic is clean, strong, and pure. We are here to help, not to hurt.

We also keep secrets safe. Many people come with personal matters. We do not share their stories. We do not speak of them to others. We treat everyone with deep respect, no matter who they are.

The Work Continues

I am now growing older, but my work continues. Every day, the spirits still speak. Every day, someone new finds their way to the temple. Sometimes it is a traveler. Sometimes it is a villager. Sometimes it is someone from very far away who says, “I had a dream,” or “I followed a voice.”

That is how the spirits work. Quietly. Gently. Powerfully.

And I am here — waiting, listening, ready to help when they send someone my way.
